The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Kaduna State Chapter, has expressed shock over the sudden demise of former two-term Kaduna State Commissioner of Sports, Honourable Yakubu Nkom Bityong

In a statement signed by the association’s Secretay, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, Saturday, SWAN said the untimely death came at a time he was still actively contributing to the development of sports in the state.

“We are deeply saddened about the news of the sudden demise of a sportsman to the core, Honourable Yakubu Nkom Bityong.

“We received the news in rude shock and cannot help but remenisce upon his tremendous contributions to sports development not only in our State Kaduna, but the entire country,” it stated.

SWAN therefore, expressed heartfelt condolences to the immediate  family of Honourable Bityong, Kaduna State Football Association, Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) and the entire Government and people of Kaduna State.

It would be recalled that Honourable Bityong served as Chairman House  Committee on Sports in the immediate past Kaduna State House of Assembly.
