Kanu Heart Foundation (KHF) on Tuesday got the royal blessings of two paramount rulers from the South West geopolitical zone of Nigeria, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II) and the Ooni of Ile Ife as well as the Olubadan of Ibadan and Aje Ogungunniso 1, Oba Saliu Adetunji have both pledged unalloyed support to the Kanu Heart Foundation (KHF), Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report authoritatively.
This much was the assurance from the two monarchs following a courtesy call by the KHF founder and former Super Eagles captain, Kanu Nwankwo in his drive to further seek support for the 18-year-old foundation that has assisted hundreds of children with heart related problems.
Last month alone, KHF conducted successful heart surgeries on six patients in India. Kanu led the other management of the foundation to seek the royal father’s acceptance to become the patron of the KHF.
“I’m so happy that the Ooni of Ife has gladly accepted to be the grand patron of Kanu Heart Foundation. My courtesy call on him at his palace on Monday was to this effect.
“This is no doubt a big achievement for KHF and I’m so happy that Oba Ogunwusi has pledged to support our charity projects. I’m so happy,” explained the former Arsenal and Ajax forward.
Kanu used the occasion of his visit to present branded Super Eagles’ shirt to the Ooni as well as the first jersey to be made for the forthcoming Ojaja Principal Cup to be competed for by secondary school students in Ile-Ife and its environs.
Meanwhile, on his way back from Ile-Ife, Kanu also made a stopover in Ibadan to also enlist the support of the Olubadan. The Atlanta’96 Soccer Gold medal-winning captain of the national U-23 side described the occasion as a dream come true.
“It was like using one stone to kill two birds for KHF because after meeting Oni in Ile-Ife, I was also with the Olubadan and I’m happy with the warm reception we also received in Ibadan. To have the endorsement of these two important traditional rulers for KHF is a big boost for us.
“We are still going to reach out to other notable traditional rulers so that they too can support the good job we are doing at the KHF,” he added.
In a related development, Kanu informed that arrangement are now at the advanced stage for the 2019 KHF Musical Concert to be stage on May 19th at the London Indigo Arena O2, adding that the event would be witnessed by the crème de la crème of the Nigerian society.
