Kidnapped Dynamite FC Owner, Bernard Joma, Regains Freedom

It was cheering news on Sunday, December 29 when the President, Dynamite Force Football Club Bernard Joma, who was kidnapped nine days ago was granted liberty by his abductors, Bestchoicesports.com.ng gathered.

Dynamite Force Media Officer, Momodu Shehu, confirmed the astute football administrator has regained freedom Sunday December 29, 2019 night.

Bernard was kidnapped on Friday December 20, 2019 by unknown gunmen at Irepeni village, Okene – Lokoja road in Kogi State.

His attackers, who dressed in military uniform, reportedly shot in the air before whisking him away around the hours of 7pm.

The kidnappers were said to have demanded N20 million from the family but later reduced the amount to N4 million. It is unclear if any money was paid for his release.

The sole financier of the Nigeria National League side, was reportedly released unhurt around 7pm on Sunday after his family paid the ransom.

While in captivity, the abductors of Bernard who doubles as the Director representing South South Zone on the Nationwide League One NLO board was said to have travelled to Abuja last week for the NNL Club Owners meeting and was returning to his base in Edo State when the suspected gunmen stopped his car along Lokoja-Okene road had threatened to kill him if ransom was not paid.

“Bernard was released Sunday night, but I’m not aware if ransom was paid or no.”

Dynamite Force are third on the Group B1 log of the 2019/2020 Nigeria National League with 9 points from five games and will be up against Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, on Sunday January 12, 2020 when the league resumes from Christmas and New Year break.
