Kogi State’s Confluence Stars Handball Club are leaving nothing to chance as they aim to win the 2022 Prudent Energy Handball Premier League season which starts on Sunday in Abuja.
In an Exclusive interview with Best Choice Sports in Abuja, Confluence Stars coach, Emmanuel Shekwolo disclosed that the target of the team is to dethrone Kano Pillars who won it last season
“Our target is to win the league this year. With what we have put on ground, I so much believe on the team that we are going to achieve our desired goals,” he said.
The young coach who said the team have been in camp for some weeks now, noted that the management of the team recruited new hands which he believed would help the team in their quest to conquer the league.
“The Kogi Confluence Stars, have been preparing for the league, we have recruited new hands and had integrated them into the team for the past weeks.
“From every angel of our preparations, we are hoping that this year, we want to be at the medal table of the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League. The title remains our priority.
“But you know it is a two-phased league, first phase will be in Abuja and second Phase will be in Lagos. What we do in our preparations is to build a team that last for this rigorous premier league.
“I want to tell you that any team that takes us for granted, does so at their peril.”
Kogi Confluence Stars ended last season seventh on the log and there are indications that the team could achieve what it has targeted in the league.
A total of 12 teams are taking part in the male category while 10 clubs will participate in the female category. The league will last for two weeks from Sunday May 22, 2022.
