Leicester sweat On Injured Iheanacho Ahead Of Manchester United Clash

Kelechi Iheanacho has handed Leicester an injury scare just seven days from their Premier League clash against Manchester United.

The forward was taken off at half-time during Nigeria’s shock 1-0 home defeat by the Central African Republic in their World Cup qualifier.

Iheanacho fell to the turf and signalled to the bench after shooting wide in the 34th minute. He attempted to continue but did not reappear for the second half.

Nigeria face the same opponents again on Sunday and boss Gernot Rohr said: ‘We have already some injuries. I don’t know if Kelechi is able to play, he had a knock.’

Leicester will be hoping it is only a minor problem as boss Brendan Rodgers had hoped to banish their early-season wobbles by pairing Iheanacho with Jamie Vardy in attack.

Both were on target in the 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace before the international break and have proved a fine partnership.

In the 15 games they have started together since March, Leicester have scored 29 times, and they are among the few Foxes players in form.

Leicester are already without Iheanacho’s international colleague Wilfred Ndidi with a hamstring injury that is likely to sideline him into next month.

Key men Wesley Fofana, Jonny Evans and James Justin have all been absent through injury.
