The minister of youth and sports, Sunday Dare has ordered for immediate investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Super Falcons inglorious ouster from the Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualification, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

The minister issued the order Monday after the team tutored by Christopher Danjuma failed to qualify for the 2020 Olympic football event in Japan despite playing at home.

Super Falcons came from behind to hold Cote’d’Voire to a 1-1 draw at Agege Stadium, Lagos on Monday in the second leg second round qualifier of the football event of the Olympics slated for next year in Japan.

Nigeria needed a win at least by a single goal to reach the next stage of the qualification but the Ivorians progressed instead on away goal rules.

Dissatisfied with the outcome of the match, the minister, the minister who said that the team gave their all in the match, however directed that investigation should be carried out to unravel what led to the embarrassing ouster.

“Olympic qualifiers: Our Super Falcons unfortunately failed to secure a ticket to the Olympics even though they were galant (sic). This offers an opportunity to dig into what led to this failure and to take proactive steps for the future and Nigeria’s football administration,” he said on his Twitter handle Monday night.
