Defending champions, Morocco has threatened to withdraw from the 2022 Africa Nations Championship, CHAN due to start in Algeria next month

Morocco’s threat came after there inability to get direct flight to Algeria.

Both nations cut diplomatic ties over Western Sahara making Morocco to travel to Algeria via France in order to make the journey to Algeria

Morocco and Algeria had strained relations for decades, mainly over the issue of Western Sahara and their diplomatic ties were cut in August last year

Morocco won the African Nations Championship CHAN for the second time by overcoming Mali 2-0 in a thrilling final at Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde, Cameroon on Sunday, February 7, 2021

The 7th edition of the tournament will be held in Algeria between 13 January and 4 February 2023.
