the sum of one hundred thousand naira (N100, 000) only is up for grab in the final of first edition of Bimo Sporting Club Scouting Tournament which will hold Tuesday, October 15, 2019, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report

The final will be between FWC Champions FC of Abuja and Goddosky International FC of Nnewi, Anambra State.

Speaking in a press conference on Monday, chairman, Bimo Sporting Club, Chinedu Okoye said that the winner of the tournament will go home with the sum of one hundred thousand naira (N100, 000) only while the first runner up with get fifty thousand naira (N50, 000) only.

“For the past two weeks, I have been trying to develop football in the nation from the grassroots. Tomorrow (today) is the final. 14 clubs from across the country participated in the tournament.

“There is a football club that came from Anambra state and luckily they are playing in the final.

“The final will be by 2pm and it will be played at the Area 3 Ground in Abuja between Family Worship Centre Football Club (FWC Champions) and Goddosky International Football Club.

“It has not been so easy financially but we have been able to weather the huddles. Organising a tournament of this nature is always very heavy on the shoulder of an individual but I am doing this for the love I have for football. We need to develop our football the best way we can.

“The winner of the tournament goes home with N100, 000 cash and the 1st runner up goes home with N50, 000. The two teams will be given medals as well as trophies for their efforts,”

On whether the organisers have been able to discover talents in the tournament, Mr Okye said that some talented players have been discovered but added that they are not in a hurry to push any player abroad.

“We have discovered a lot of talents. Nigeria is blessed with huge number of talented players in the country. Sometimes discovering these talents is not the issue but the ability to harness them. But in this tournament, we have discovered a lot of talents and we will do our best to bring out the best in them.

“This is the first edition and we are determined to make it a yearly tournament. We are very much eager for that but do not forget that the first edition of any tournament is always difficult but having come this far, we will leverage on our experience this year to organise a better tournament next year.

“We know where we are going to and the target is to develop our football to the next level.

“In this edition, we played without age limit and in the next edition, we will restrict it to age level where we will give opportunity to young ones to come out and express themselves. Football is not meant for old meant or women. In this tournament I saw players above 30 years. In football you do not have any business with football. Even if you are playing football at that age, you should be doing it for fun and not for career. In subsequent tournament we will target those who want to build their football career at younger age.

“My partner is from Switzerland and he was here last week and watched some of the matches. I always have issues with taking players abroad. I do not just take a player to Europe, because the contact which I have in Europe do not just take any player. I will make sure that I get all those players which I have discovered and get them into my club or work with their club and monitor the development of the players so that when the players are ready to go, he goes.

“Everybody must not play football in Europe. A lot of people think that it is only in Europe you can play football, but that is not true. You can as well play football in Nigeria here. Unfortunately Nigeria football is a complete mess,” he concluded.
