Angry former Akwa United players were involved in bitter arguments with management of Akwa Ibom state owned team over the disappearance of their Aiteo cup N70 million money promised the team for winning the FA Cup in 2017.

The ex-players are insisting on full payment of the money or else justice must prevail.

Apexmedia learnt that the chairman of the club Paul Bassey boasted that the money would be paid but since 3 years ago nothing has been received by the players.

The ex-players stated that they have pleaded with the management of the club to pay up the money but the Chairman and the state commissioner for sports refused to listen to them.

It remains to be seen if the issues will be resolved since the ex-players are about petitioning the EFCC for the sudden disappearance of the N70 million Aiteo cup money promised by the state government.

Akwa United won the 2017 Aiteo Cup by beating the Niger Tornadoes 3-2 on penalties to lift the maiden edition of the Aiteo Cup (FA Cup).
