The Nationwide League One, NLO, will commence on May 23rd, 2019, bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

The kick off date was part of resolutions reached by the NLO management after its Annual General Meeting, AGM, held in Abuja Thursday.

The Congress while affirming the commencement date, also thanked the Nigeria Football Federation and the deputy governor of Kano state for their support.

The Congress further passed a vote of confidence on the Alhaji Mohammed Alkali-led Board and the Secretariat headed by Mr Olushola Ogunnowo as evidence in the visible transformation and future assurance of big investors working with the league, consequently the entire congress approved another four (4) years tenure for the Board.

Part of the communique released at the end of the congress and signed by the Communique Drafting Committee Chairman, David Allu reads:

“The congress endorsed that the 2018/2019 NLO Football season should Kick-off from Thursday May 23, 2019.

“The congress appreciates His Excellence, Hon Nasiru Gawuna Deputy Governor of Kano State for the support given to the Nationwide League One and accepting to be the League Patron.

“The Congress Commended the Nigeria Football Federation for their continuing efforts to reposition Nigeria Football.

“The Congress endorsed the League format used for divisions 1-3 approved by the NLO Board for 2018 season, and should be maintained by the secretariat. (The Board should work on amending the relevant section in the rules and regulations and directed the Secretariat to put all machinery in motion to ensure that from 2019 season, all the players in the Nationwide League One should have a legal representation and that all the clubs should endeavor to register their clubs on TMS, this will enable the clubs to secure their investment on their players and guide against poachers.
