NDDC Returns W W White Football Talent Hunt in Port Harcourt
The New W W WHITE football tournament has opened in port Harcourt the rivers state capital
Declaring the long week event open, the managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, represented by the director for youths, sports, culture and women affairs, Barr Salami OkoJe in his welcome. Remarks revealed that the motive is geared towards engaging the youths to create employment and productivity in line with President Ahmed Bola Tinubu convocation of a youth conference to prepare their mind gaining fully for the future
The SA to the managing director on education Barr Offor Amanzi Chimezie commended the return of the tournament by his boss which according to him was last held in 1991. Barr Chimezie noted that sports are education which is very key to the development of the Niger Delta region
The Special Assistant on security Chief Bara Otobo recalled that the WW White Football Tournament has registered great players like Finidi George, Richard Owobokiri Kanu Nwankwo, Imama Amapakabo amongst others. The security chief while applauding its return said sports is a good means to the reduction of crime in any society hence is the right direction taken by the Nddc
The chairman of the local organising committee Engr Promise Alagbare said is a dream come through to again see very youthful players been given opportunity to showcase their talents and to be spotted
The new white football tournament is for government owned secondary schools in the 9 Niger Delta States with the first edition ongoing in rivers with 22 schools while subsequent editions will be spread across other states in the region
