New Karu Football Academy has emerged champions of the 3rd edition of AMAC Football Coaches Unity Cup Tournament.

The teenagers who showed class and dexterity and recorded 2-0 win in the final match against N-Youth Football Academy, have dethroned former champions, FC Digital Foot who were the defending champions.

In the final played at the Area 3 Play Ground Garki Abuja, New Karu saw off pre-tournament favorite, N-Youth Academy to win the coveted trophy for the first time.

Speaking at the grand finale, the leader of AMAC Football Coaches Council, Coach Kenny Owojori expressed satisfaction on the quality of game displayed and thanked the teams that participated in the tournament.

While thanking the FCT Football Association and the FCT Football Coaches Association for their support, he called for private and corporate organisations to support the growth of grassroots football in the nation’s capital through sponsorship

“I am very happy today, (Monday) that the competition has come to a wonderful conclusion. I must first and foremost thank the organising committee for surmounting challenges on the road to ensure that the tournament had a fitting end.

“I want to specially thank the participating teams for believing in what we are doing. Of cause, there were impediments here and there but the greater mission of the competition, which was promoting grassroots football development, is not compromised.

“We remain grateful to the FCT Football Association, Football Coaches Association and the Referees Council for their maximum support.

“I want to use this medium to appeal to private and corporate organisations to support grassroots football development through sponsorship,” he said.

Outstanding players received various awards such as the highest goal scorer award which went to Peter Edakpolor of N -Youth after he netted nine-times in the tournament.

The N-Youth Football Academy also scooped the Best Goal Keeper and Most Valuable Player awards.
