NFF Fines Osun United Half A Million Naira For Leaking Decision

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has imposed the sum of five hundred thousand naira (N500, 0000.00) only on Nigeria National League, NNL side, Osun United for leaking its decision 24 hours before it was made public, Bestchicesports.com.ng can report

The federation through its disciplinary committee noted in its April 30 release that after the hearing on 21st April 2021 in the matter involving Vinedresser (sic) FC vs. Osun United FC, Osun United FC, via its official Twitter handle published part of the decision of the NFF Disciplinary Committee, pre -empting the actual decision before same was officially released, communicated and published on the 22nd April 2021.

The committee noted that the act of Osun United FC constitutes a breach of the confidentiality requirements for such proceedings and is capable of bringing the reputation and integrity of the members of the committee to question.

While noting that Osun United FC admitted to their culpability, the committee added however that the club was economical with the truth as to the source of their information, as they could not substantiate their claim of getting such information from local media.

Consequently and based on the findings, the Committee that “Osun United FC is liable for the said publication made via its official twitter handle.

“That Osun United FC is to pay a fine of the sum of #500,000.00 (five hundred thousand Naira) only for this infraction.

“Osun United FC is hereby ordered to, within 48 hours, tender written apology to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Nigeria National League (NNL) and the NFF Disciplinary Committee, and to publish same via their official twitter handle.”

It however added that Sound United have the rights to seek for appeal against the decision if it so wishes.
