NFF To Receive Additional  N108.3 Million CAF COVID-19 Grant

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, will receive an additional N108, 300, 000 from the Confederation of Africa Football, CAF as part of COVID-19 grant aimed at cushioning the impact of the pandemic ravaging football activities among member associations, Bestchoicesports.com.ng reports.

It could be recalled that the NFF in May received the sum of $200,000 (NGN77.4M) from CAF to help mitigate the financial fallout of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Africa’s football disbursed a total of $10.8mn for “immediate distribution” to all 54 member associations to help cope with the disruption from the ravaging virus.

Normal eligibility requirements to access the funds were waived due to the exigencies occasioned by the coronavirus CAF said in a statement.

CAF President, Ahmad Ahmad said in May that “Due to the fast-spread of COVID-19, African MA’s have suspended all domestic competitions, which has brought about huge financial burdens on their shoulders. CAF has thus decided to waive the eligibility requirements to access the annual grants, so all MA’s can benefit during this difficult period,” CAF President Ahmad Ahmad said in a statement.

But after an emergency Executive Committee meeting on Tuesday, “CAF has allocated an additional USD 16.2 Million to assist Member Associations to mitigate challenges as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic,” the federation said in a release.

Adding that “Each Member Associations will be entitled to USD 300,000.”
