Niger State Governor promises to support Life Camp Volleyball Inter-club tournament

Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello has promised to support Life Camp Volleyball Club Inter-club Tournament.

The governor made the promise on Sunday during the final of the 4th edition of the tournament held at Jabi Lake, Abuja.

Speaking at the final, the governor who was represented by the Commissioner for commerce/Investment and Industry, Dr Mustapha Jibril described the tournament as laudable adding that the state government will support the championship to see that its aim is actualized.

According to Dr Mustapha who said had attended the 2nd edition of the tournament two years ago, he added that as a sports loving governor, the state government will support the organizers to ensure that it is given a pride of place in the country.

“Niger State government has passion for sports development. This passion can be seen on how we have been able to revamp sports in the state. we will identify with sports anywhere and that is why the governor deemed it to grace this final. He wanted to be here in person but there were issues that needed his attention hence my coming to represent him.

“The governor commends the organizers of the Life Camp Volleyball Inter-club tournament which is in its fourth edition. I was also here during the 2nd edition two years ago and today I am here also. It means that our partnership is working already and the state government will do our best to support the club.

“As a medical doctor, I know the importance of sports. Apart from the fact that by engaging in sports you drive joy, you also exercise your body, maintain a healthy life style and extend your life span,” he said.

Speaking on the essence of the tournament, coordinator of the Life Camp Volleyball Club, Hassan Abdulahi  said that the tournament is the club’s way of ending the year adding that the club which had produced national players has its membership from across different professions and states in the country.

“The Life Camp Volleyball Inter-club tournament is an annual championship played among members of the club in honour of Justice B. Kanyip, a patron of the club, who was recently appointed as the president of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria.

“The tournament commenced on Friday the 6th December. It is our own way of coming together to round off our activities for the year.

“Life Camp Volleyball Club, Abuja is duly registered with the CAC for leisure and development of volleyball. Membership cuts across various professions and ethnicity. The club is being funded by contributions from members, support from the patrons and assistance from friends and associates.

“It will interest you to know that the club has produced national players and coaches for the country,” he said.

In the male final played on Sunday, Team Red Won Team White 2-1 with scores 25-17, 28-30, 25-17.

In the female category, Team Orange defeat Team White 3-2 in five set thriller

25-23, 25-18, 19-25, 20-25, 15-7.

In the 3rd place matches, Team Green defeated Team Blue 2-1 in the male category Male with 26-24, 22-25, 18-16 scores

While Team Red was too hot for Team Purple as the former defeated the latter 2-1 to clinch the bronze medal with 29-27, 15-25, 15-12 scores.
