Nigeria Battles Cameroon,Tunisia In 2019 Women’s Afrobasketball
The draw of the FIBA Women’s Afrobasket Tournament has been made in Dakar, Senegal ahead of the upcoming tournament to be held in Senegal this August.
Cameroon will face 3 times winners Nigeria in Pool B alongside Tunisia while the most successful nation Senegal with 11 titles going into this tournament on home soil Egypt and Cote D’Ivoire in Pool A.
Pool C constitute of Angola, DRC and Mali.
While Kenya Cape Verde and Mozambique are in Pool D of the 24th FIBA Women’s Afrobasket tournament.
The 2019 AfroBasket Women will run August 10th to 18th 2019 in Dakar, Senegal. The tournament will also serve as the step for the qualification for FIBA Africa for the Women’s basketball tournament at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
The top six teams at the end of the tournament will qualify for the Africa Pre-Qualifying Tournaments.
The complete groups are as follows;
Group A: Cote D’Ivoire, Egypt , and Senegal
Group B: Tunisia , Cameroon and Nigeria
Group C: Angola , DR Congo and Mali
Group D :Kenya , Cape Verde and Mozambique
The 12 nations draw from the 53 member Federations will challenge each other at the 5000 capacity Dakar Arena
The first team from each of the groups will qualify for the Quarterfinals while the other two teams will play a knock out game for a ticket for the Quarterfinals.
