The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON qualifying matches between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Djurtus of Guinea Bissau scheduled for September, have been postponed, bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

First leg of the double-header qualifiers which was slated to hold on 19 in Nigeria with the return leg on 27 September in Guinea Bissau have all been postponed till March next year.

The postponement of the two matches, it was gathered was due to the delay in the kick-off date of the tournament to be hosted by Cote D’Ivoire

Recall that the Confederation of Africa Football
CAF moved the 2023 AFCON tournament in Cote d’Ivoire from June 2023 to January 2024 due to “weather conditions”, as a result, the qualifying games to the tournament have also been moved.

Africa’s five World Cup-bound teams have also asked to use the September FIFA windows to step up their preparations for this year’s World Cup in Qatar, which kicks off in November.

Led by Portuguese coach, Jose Peseiro, the Super Eagles lead Group A of the 2023 AFCON with six points from two matches.

The three-time Champions who annihilated their matchday 2 opponents, Sao Tome and Principe 10-0 on June 13th, 2022 have scored 12 goals concedeing once.

Sierra Leone and Sao Tome are the other teams in their qualifying group.
