Determined to end the lingering division in their food, two factional Nigeria players’ unions – The National Association of Nigeria Footballers, NANF and the National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers, NANPF – have set up a committee to marshal out road map on how to facilitate a unifying and harmonised players’ union in the country, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report

In a release made available to our correspondent and signed by the President, NANF, Mr Harrison Jalla said that with the committee set up, he will relinquish his position to pave way for a new vibrant players’ union.

He thanked the Chairman of Surulere Local Council in Lagos State, Tajudeen Ajide who was the convener of the peace meeting as well as Dr. Felix Owolabi (MON) who chaired and presided over the peace meeting.

The peace meeting was held on 17th July, 2020.

Mr Jalla however noted that his leaving the position will not in anyway affect his resolve fight against corruption in the Nigeria football.

“17th July, 2020 is historic for all Nigeria footballers current and retired. The two factions of the players associations deliberately pitched together by the NFF for over 15 years buried their hatchet and vowed to come together as a united Family.

“In the light of the above, a joint committee has been instituted to marshal out a road map going forward. Yours sincerely will soon gracefully bow out as president of NANF. Nigerians will soon see a new set of Vibrant kids on the block who will drive the vision in which we are founding fathers.

“I want to on behalf of all Nigeria footballers current and retired sincerely thank Hon. Tajudeen Ajide the Executive Chairman of Surulere local government area who is the convener of the peace meeting and our senior colleague Dr. Felix Owolabi (MON) who chaired and presided over the peace meeting.

“Kudos also to the Legion of Ex- Footballers present at the meeting Waidi Akanni, Tajudeen Disu, Mutiu Adepoju, Tijani Babangida, Ikechukwu Enwezor, Austin Popo, Jumbo Awala, Wasiu Ipaye, Clement Temile, Joshua Kator, Edema Fuludu, Gani Akanni, Dahiru Sadi, David Aigbovo, Princewill Gbogbodu, Akeem Busari, Emmanuel Babayaro, Peter Nieketen and a host of others.

“Finally let me use this opportunity to inform my colleagues, Friends, Football stakeholders, and admirers that bowing out as president of NANF will not negatively affect the fight against corruption and reforms in the NFF in which I have been the prime mover and face of the struggle it will rather reinvigorate it,” the release said.
