NNL MD9: Tornadoes Beat Kogi United 2-0 In Niger
Niger Tornadoes Football Club of Minna produced another excellent performance to tame stubborn Kogi United in a Week 8 encounter of the Nigeria National League decided at the Late Bako Kontagora Stadium, Minna.
The two team go into the game with a fair share of bragging right, Niger Tornadoes holding the record of best home team, while Kogi United haven recorded two away wins in four matches, were hopeful of another away point(s) on the road, but the Ikon Allah Boys proved a hard nut to crack.
The better part of first half was quite tactical as both teams counts each other out in all contests, not until the dying moment of the game when Oche Josiah arrived in the box on time to connect Peter Momohs’ well taken corner kick to separate the two teams.
On resumption into the second half, Niger Tornadoes came out smoking with the intent to take the game within the reach of their opponent. Two quick changes were made as Lekan Dagean came on for Ahmadu Liman while Jamiu Suleiman replaced Mohammed Sani, the substitutes proved quite effective as the home team ceased initiative of game creating clear cut chances midway through the second but weren’t clinical in front of goal.
However, after several attempts and some misses, the sustained pressure paid off as Lukman Mohammed hit a rocket shot from a goal mouth scramble for his first goal of the season as the home team wrapped up another home win.
