NNL Slams N.5 Million Sanction On Go Round As Club Face Banishment From Home

The Nigeria National League, NNL have imposed the sum of five hundred thousand naira (N500, 000.00) fine on Go Round Football Club following attacks on match officials by fans of the Rivers State-based club against 3SC FC Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

In a release dated July 12, 2021 and made available to our reporter, the NNL management noted that the sanctions was in regard to matchday 20 clash between GO Round FC and 3SC Football Club of Ibadan.

The league body noted that “there was severe threat to life of the match officials in Omoku which was orchestrated by Mr. Sunny Uboh (Go Round Team Manger) as well as the fact that the security personnel at the match venue were “either not enough, grossly ineffective or were compromised.”

Based on its findings, the league management passed a judgement that “Go Round FC shall pay as fine in the sum of N500,000.00 only for challenging the decision of the Referee and requesting that a penalty be awarded in their favour in line with Article 14.8 of NNL rulebook”.

The realest further directed that “Go Round FC is given 7 days to produce the assailant; else the Krisdera Stadium would be banned from hosting NNL matches.”

Go Round FC Team Manager, Mr Sunny Uboh who was indicated to have masterminded the melee was however giving a final repremind to desist from unsportsmanlike conduct.

“Mr. Sunny Uboh is hereby given a final warning not to interfere the proceedings of match henceforth. Further act(s) of misconduct shall attract severe sanctions in line with NNL rulebook” the release added.

Below is part of the decisions taken by the NNL hierarchy on July 12, 2021.

“Given the provisions of Article 148.8 of the rules guiding the League, the NNL hereby decides as follows:

  1. That the scores as indicated by the Center Referee and Match Commissioner are hereby considered as the official scores of the match
  2. That Go Round FC shall pay as fine in the sum of N500,000.00 only for challenging the decision of the Referee and requesting that a penalty be awarded in their favour in line with Article 14.8 of NNL rulebook.
  3. That Go Round FC is given 7 days to produce the assailant; else the Krisdera Stadium would be banned from hosting NNL matches.

IV. That Mr. Sunny Uboh is hereby given a final warning not to interfere the proceedings of match henceforth. Further act(s) of misconduct shall attract severe sanctions in line with NNL rulebook.

Kindly note that this is a summary jurisdiction by the league. You therefore have the right to appeal to the Disciplinary Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation within 48 hours on receipt of this letter,” the statement signed by the Chief Operating Officer, Emmanuel Adesanya concluded.
