The 2021 Nigeria National League, NNL Super 8 got underway in Enugu on Tuesday with four matches already decided in matchday 1 with two wins and two draws recorded.

With the 8 teams paired in group A and B of Northern and Southern Conferences, respectively, Remo Stars and 3SC are on the driving seat in Southern Conference after both teams recorded wins on the opening day.

While Remo Stars recorded an emphatic 3-0 win over Ekiti United, Shooting Stars (3SC) had a 2-1 victory over Bendel Insurance.

Remo Stars therefore dictates the pace at the Group B Southern Conference summit while 3SC are second.

However, at the Northern Conference, Group A, the spoils were shared evenly as no victory was recorded in the first two matches.

The first match of the day between Gombe United and El Kanemi Warriors produced no winner as both teams battled for 1-1 draw.

In the second Group A match, DMD frustrated bookmakers favourites, Niger Tornadoes and ensured that the encounter had no goals as the scores remained barren at the end of 90 minutes

All the teams in Group A, the Northern Conference are level on one point with El-Kanemi Warriors and Gombe United having scored a goal and conceded one to be slightly above the other two teams that played goalless in their opening fixture.

If the Warriors triumph.in the match against Niger Tornadoes today,, they stand the chance of topping the table depending on the outcome of Gombe United’s match against DMD.

Ekiti United’s loss placed second in Group B of the Southern Conference. And they clash with desperate Bendel Insurance, who nurse the squandering of their advantage to lose to Shooting Stars on Tuesday.

Shooting Stars themselves must overwhelm Remo Stars honare dictating the Group B table with superior goal difference, to stay on track for promotion to the next season’s NPFL.
