NPFL 2019: Tornadoes Relegated, Kwara Utd, Heartland, Go Round Take Battle To Last Day

Niger Tornadoes Monday joined Remo Stars among the relegated teams from the Group A of the 2018/19 Nigeria Professional Football League Season, Bestchoicesports.com.ng writes

Tornadoes relegation was confirmed after they lost 0-2 away to Enyimba of Aba in matchday 21 of the league.

Meanwhile, Go Round FC, Heartland of Owerri, Gombe United will live to fight it our on the last day of the league to determine the remaining five teams to join Tornadoes, Remo Stars and Yobe Desert in the Nigeria National League, NNL next year.

In Group B, Plateau United, 29 points; Abia Warriors; 28 points, Heartland, 28 points; Gombe United, 27 points and Go Round FC with 27 points could all drop to the second tier league if results do not favour them in the last league game this weekend.

In Group A, apart from the confirmation of Remo Stars and Niger Tornadoes downward movement, Bendel Insurance (5) with 28 points; Rivers United (6) with 28 points; Katsina United (7) 27 points; Wikki Tourists (8) 27 points; Sunshine Stars (9) 26 points and Kwara United placed 10th with 24 points are all unsafe from the drop if results go against them in the last matches.

Meanwhile, Rangers and Lobi Stars have all qualified for the playoff in Group A. Leaving MFM and Enyimba to battle it out on the last day for the remaining slot.

In Group B, Akwa United and Kano Pillars are through to the playoff while Ifeanyi Ubah needs a draw in their last match to confirm their passage as Nassarawa United is right on their neck to snap the slot should they falter.
