Kwara United chairman, Kumbi Titiloye was a victimm of attack by angry fans at the Kwara Stadium on Wednesday.

Kwara United held Rivers United to a 1-1 draw at home in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 23 fixture.

A club source confirmed the ugly incident that happened after the game.

“It’s shocking and disappointing that the club Chairman was attacked by a section of Kwara United unruly fans after the game. It was an ugly incident which is not good for the image of the State and the club,” the source said.

Kwara United are third on the NPFL table with 40 points, four points behind leaders Kano Pillars with one outstanding game.

“Kwara United have won games away this season, it’s expected that top teams in the League can also pick points in Ilorin. This was a game between title contenders and the team gave a good fight.

“For the first time in a long time and despite the minimal budget from the State Government if you compare with the other top clubs, Kwara United are competing for the title with a respected third position.

“The attack is unbelievable and unacceptable, the fans have been a major problem of the club. They always find their way to disrupt the progress of the club. The management will work with the Police and ensure we caught the culprits and punish them,” the source revealed.
