Akwa United moved to the summit of the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL following a slim 2-1 win against Sunshine Stars in Uyo on Sunday just as Ranger International of Enugu defeated Enyimba 2-0 in the star match of the week 20 fixtures.

Charles Atshimene gave the Akwa team the lead on 21 minutes, while Sadeeq Yusuf equalised for Sunshine Stars 11 minutes later

Seth Mayi netted the winning goal for Akwa United in the 72nd minute. The Promise Keepers occupy top spot on the table with 37 points from 20 games. Sunshine Stars are now without a win in their last 13 games.

In Enugu, host Rangers defeated Enyimba 2-0 courtesy of goals from Christian Nnaji via penalty in the 57th minute while Elijah Ani wrapped up the win in the 90th minute through another spot kick

Kano Pillars missed the chance to secure top spot after they conceded a late equaliser in the 1-1 draw against Warri Wolves in Ozoro.

Auwalu Usman put Pillars ahead two minutes before the hour mark, while Mark Daniel levelled scores for Warri Wolves from the spot four minutes from time.

Kwara United dropped to third position on the table following a 2-1 defeat to Nasarawa United in Lafia.

Anas Yusuf scored the curtain raiser for the hosts three minutes after the break with Silas Nwankwo adding the second in the 69th minute.

Wasiu Alalade reduced the deficit on the stroke of 90 minutes.

At the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium, Enugu, Rangers dispatched Enyimba 2-0 in the oriental derby.

Both goals came from the spot with Christian Nnaji scoring the first in the 57th minute and Elijah Ani converting the second on 90 minutes.

Heartland recorded the only away win of the day with Kingsley Maduforo scoring the winning goal in the 1-0 victory at Adamawa United.

In Port Harcourt, Sunday Adetunji, scored for the second consecutive game as Rivers United beat Dakkada 2-0.

Paul Acquah was also on target for Rivers United in the game.

Katsina United recorded the biggest win of the day thrashing Wikki Tourists 5-1 at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.
