Former Flying Eagles coach, John Sam Obuh has advised Nigeria Professional Football League slubs to be professional while conducting players’ medical reports, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

The former Akwa United gaffer made the call on Tuesday in a Voice Note sent to Best Choice Sports Whatsapp Platform.

Coach Obuh who has been in the NPFL for over 20 years, said that experience have shown that clubs in the elite league do not adhere to medical principles of every player.

The former Enugu Rangers manager who spoke on the increasing need for use of effective and functional ambulances at match venues, said that officials of every club should be very careful in observing and taking medical report of their players

“I want to believe that we can deal with these things if only we can adhere strictly to some certain situations that surrounds us and be careful and make sure that we observe the things we are supposed to observe during player registrations; making sure that every medical information of the players are current, making sure that we do not go through a quick way to fix it but we do the normal thing trying to make sure that the ambulance are always available during training and games,” he said.

It would be recalled that the NPFL was thrown into mourning following the death of Nasarawa United defender, Chineme Martins who collapsed and died during their match against Katsina United in Lafia earlier this month.

Nasarawa United ambulance was pushed into the stadium after Chineme collapsed to the disappointment of everyone in the field.  

His death which the minister of youth and sports described as avoidable, prompted calls from across the country on the need for through inspection of all medical facilities before any league match could hold.
