Ogun State FA Boss Waters Down All Stars FC Threat
By Ebube Dike
Ogun state FA Chairman Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi has described the recent statements credited to the State FA Cup Champions, All Stars FC as mischievous and aimed at bringing the game to disrepute in the state, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.
In a chat with this tabloid, the NFF Executive Board member said he was surprised to read the statement credit to the team, saying that he was wondering how a team that did not bother to register for the competition and did not bother to affiliate with the FA, will be reflected in the fixtures.
Quoting his words, the man popularly called “Majek” said “We are not denying the fact that All Stars FC is the defending champions of our FA Cup. But, when call for entries were made by the NFF, which we duly informed all our teams through the media and other information outlets, 32 teams came forward to register and properly affiliated themselves with the FA for the season, the All Stars team did not show up. We felt that they were not interested in defending the trophy they won last year. Now, that the tournament has entered the quarter final stages, they are coming forward to say that they were excluded from the tournament and was not aware. There is no way they can claim ignorance of it, because their Vice Chairman is also a Board member of the FA” Majek said.
The FA boss exonerated his Board of any wrong doing, while advising the All Stars team to join hands in moving the game forward in the state, instead of building castles in the air.
