Igbo people of South-East Nigeria say that when a path is good, it is passed twice. Perhaps that sums up the return of Olugbenga Ogunbote to his former club, Sunshine Stars FC of Akure, Bestchicesports.com.ng can report.

The former Rangers and Lobi Stars gaffer was unveiled by the club on Tuesdaya fter  signing a renewable one year contract to start a second spell with the Club as coach from the 2020/21 season.

A release by the club says Ogunbote popularly called ‘’The Oracle’ shortly after signing the dotted line was presented to the media and other stakeholders at the conference room of the Ondo State Football Agency’s Caring Heart Games Village office.

The coach and Club President, Otunba Tajudeen Akinyemi’s speech and responses touched on team’s target, the style of play and unity of purpose during the ceremony and a session with the Sports Writers.

In his speech, Ogunbote thanked everyone that made the return journey a success

“I thank everyone that made this return possible. My philosophy is beauty in the game and success, hence I want result everywhere I go and the good thing here is that the standard is already there; we must work on it and aim even higher than before as anything below is not possible.

“We must repeat and double up on what we did in the past to achieve our goals; unity of purpose from all stakeholders: The management, Government, State Assembly, the FA, Supporters and others. I am happy to be back!”

“The Oracle you are welcome back. Will call you because we want to achieve results, your pedigree and records is enviable and comes with guarantee. Together we will return to the continental. Myself, the director (Prince Ojunja) will work to provide all your need and assitance.

Ogunbote guided Sunshine Stars to back-to-back semi-final appearance in the 2012 and 2013 CAF Confederation Cup/Champions League and narrowly missed out on winning on what would have been a first league tittle for Akure landlords in 2011.

Ogunbote’s 71 point haul with the club during his first appointment in early 2010’s remains the clubs overall best league season point till date

the 2020/21 NPFL season is scheduled to commence next month provided the suspension of sporting activities is lifted by the federal government
