Former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh has said that today’s footballers need a coach who is not too older than the players, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

Oliseh used examples of the world’s best managers as uncles rather than daddies to their players: Jurgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola and Antonio Conte – all coaches still far off the age 60 mark.

“Football has really changed and the truth is the modern-day game needs uncles as coaches and not daddies. You need to see the calibre of coaches making their mark now on in the world of football,” Oliseh told Brila.

“Take a look at Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp, Antonio Conte, those are uncles and they can practically explain tactics to their players.

“This is what football is these days and it has little or no room for older coaches who find it difficult to put into practice, what they want the players to do”, Oliseh said.

The former Super Eagles coach concluded his views by giving examples of the AFCON 2019 results where the two finalists coaches – Algeria’s Djamel Belmadi and Senegalese tactician Aliou Cissé are both 43 years old.

“You can even see from the 2019 AFCON that football is fast changing,” concluded Oliseh.
