Poland World Cup: Injury Ravaged Flying Eagles Tackle Ukraine In A Must-win Match
By Amaechi Agbo
If losing 2-0 against a disciplined USA team gave coach Paul Aigbogun sleepless nights since Monday this week, perhaps the report coming from the camp of the U-20 national team in Poland is enough to give him nightmares.
On Monday, the Flying Eagles were torn apart by the USA lads in a dominant fashion with the Eagles unable to put up a spirited fight.
Despite not being at their best, it has been gathered that no less than four players that featured in the loss against USA are injured with two confirmed not to play any part in the crucial game Thursday.
Best Choice Sports gathered that defender, Valentine Ozornwafor who sustained a groin
injury in the match has been ruled out of the Thursday clash of the Group D against Ukraine.
Also, midfielder Jamil Muhammad is out for the rest of the tournament after sustaining an injury in the game against the United States.
Rabiu Muhammad also got knocks in the US game but partook in Tuesday’s training without much problems and could be available for the encounter.
Nigeria will tackle Ukraine this night in a match they “must” win to entertain any hope of progrssing to the knockout stages of the U-20 FIFA World championships.
Ukraine has already booked their ticket to the elimination stage and top the Group D with six points from two wins while Nigeria and USA occupy 2nd and 3rd respectively with the same number of three points but Nigeria has a superior goal difference of two against USA’s one.
