American tactician, Randy Waldrum has resigned from his position as the Super Falcons Coach

Appointed coach if the nine-time Africa champions on October 5, 2020, the 67-year-old in his letter of resignation on Thursday cited ill health of his wife as the reason for stepping aside

“It’s been a very difficult few weeks following the Olympics, with my wife’s health issues, and the worries that obviously come with that. After much thought and consideration, I am hereby resigning my position as Head Coach of the Super Falcons.

“This will allow the NFF ample time to find the next manager to take over this incredible squad,” Waldrum said in his letter

In his four years stint with the team, Waldrum qualified the team to the 2023 World Cup were they reached the Round of 16 but was eliminated by England in penalty shootout.

He also led the team to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games, breaking their 16 years jinx of not playing at the quadrennial event.

Coach Waldrum ‘s resignation will offer Nigeria Football Federation ample time to scout for his replacement ahead of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations WAFCON slated to hold in Morocco next year.

The tournament is slated to hold between 5 and 26th July, 2025.
