French-born Nigerian ski athlete, Samuel Uduigwome Ikpefan has indicated interest to represent Nigeria in the upcoming 2022 winter Olympic games in Beijing as well as the 2021 world championship in Nordic skiing in Germany, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

The 28-year old while speaking with Bestchoicesports.com.ng in Abuja stated that he’s been very passionate about the sport right from his years of childhood, and because the sport is also very familiar in his region, hence the rationale that informed his decision to represent his father land during the winter Olympics.

In his bid to qualify for the world championship and the next Olympic games, Samuel will need an FIS (International Ski Federation) licence to score points that will qualify him for the championships.

Samuel who also doubles as a ski instructor in the winter, works as a lifeguard in the swimming pool during summer, even as he has been on the racing circuit for years in France in his region of Nordic cross country skiing.

Born to Mr Stanley Ikpefan who hails from Edo state , Samuel is very confident to represent Nigeria in his winter discipline which also includes Bobsleigh, Skeleton & cross country skiing which no African nation has been able to represent 3 winter sports at the Olympic games.

Samuel is currently in Abuja to finalise and conclude plans with the federation and hopes that his dreams will be actualised.
