Simy Nwankwo Joins Serie A New Boys Salernitana

After weeks of prolonged discussions, negations that tried the patience of the fans, Newly-Promoted Italian Serie A side Salernitana have completed the loan signing of Super Eagles striker, Simy Nwankwo from Serie B side Crotone, www.bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

The negotiations had dragged on for some time, but were finally concluded over the last 24 hours.
Simy scored 20 goals in 38 Serie A appearances last season, but was still unable to prevent Crotone’s relegation to Serie B.
The deal is believed to be a loan with obligation to buy for a total of €6m, including bonuses. The 29-year-old who scored 20 goals in 39 games for Crotone last season and will wear the number 25 shirt at his new club.
“The US Salernitana 1919 announces that it has reached an agreement with FC Crotone for the temporary transfer with the obligation to redeem the striker class ’92 Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo. The player will wear the number 25 shirt,”reads a statement on the club website.
The 29-year-old was linked with the likes of Udinese, Real Mallorca, Bologna and Tottenham Hotspur but was eager to remain in Serie A close to the south of Italy that has been his home since 2016.
Since joining Crotone in 2016, Nwankwo has scored 66 goals in 159 games.
