Students of Uriri High School in Migori county of Kenya have burnt down their dormitory after they were denied a chance to watch the ongoing 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON in Egypt, Bestchoicesports.com.ng understands

The students reportedly wanted to watch the match between Kenya’s Harambee Stars and Algeria’s national soccer team played on the night of Sunday, June 23.

The latest fire incident at Uriri High School comes barely a month after a similar incident when the students were allegedly barred from mingling with visiting female students.

Notably, this was not the first fire incident allegedly started by protesting students at the same school.

Migori News, a news outlet which specifically focuses on events happening in the county, reported a similar case in early June 2019.

In the first incident, at least five students were hurt after an inferno broke out in one of the dormitories.

It was alleged the fire was also caused by students after they were denied an opportunity to interact and mingle with female colleagues from another school.

The visiting girls were said to be part of a group of female guides and scouts who had come to camp at the school’s playground.
