Super Eagle’s Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye Joins Udinese On A Three-year Deal
Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye has signed a three-year contract with Italian Serie A side, Udinese
Okoye left English Championship side, Watford to explore new life in Italy. His contract will keep him at the Bianconeri until 2027.
The club confirmed Okoye’s arrival on Thursday on their Tweeter handle saying “Benvenuto (welcome to) Maduka Okoye 🙌”
His former club, Watford also confirmed his departure in a statement: “Watford FC confirms the permanent departure of goalkeeper Maduka Okoye to Italian Serie A side Udinese.
The 23-year-old initially signed for the Hornets in January 2022 before joining up with the squad ahead of the 2022/23 season,” the club said
A senior Nigeria international, Okoye featured twice for Watford last season, starting a match apiece in the Carabao Cup and Emirates FA Cup.
Having spent time in the youth ranks at Borussia Mönchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen and Fortuna Düsseldorf, Germany-born Okoye moved to Sparta Rotterdam in the summer of 2020.
He spent two seasons with the Dutch Eredivisie outfit, returning on loan for the second half of the 2021/22 campaign after agreeing permanent terms with Watford.
He has 16 caps for Nigeria.
