The Work In FCT Football Is Enormous, But We have Our Plans –FA Boss
By Amaechi Agbo
The Chairman of FCT Football Association, Adam Mouktar Mohammed has disclosed that works to be carried out in the FA are enormous but reiterated that the new executive Committee has plans on ground to swing into action and turn around the fortunes of football in the Federal Capital.
Mr Mouktar who spoke in an exclusive interview with Best Choice Sports noted that it was the need to change the face of football in the FCt that he contested for the position adding that being the second Vice Chairman in the past administration gave him the leverage to understand the enormity of work in the association.
“Well, the work is enormous. We are not kidding ourselves. We will do our best. We have a plan because we did not come empty. We have four years to actualise some of the plans. But just as I said, the main thing we want to achieve is the facilities. The facilities are within the city and the area councils. If we are able to achieve 50% of that, it is a huge success.
“If we can add other facilities such as five-aside just to mark it like an organised park where you can park, relax and eat food or play football that will be ideal. Such that even in the night football can be played under floodlight. We can make this place (Area 3 Play Ground) secure and safe that is what we want to do. You can also come and watch football here with projector screen with shops and restaurants.
“Outside that, we should always be ready to support the academies and players. I always thought that the affiliate fees we are charging is too high because it makes teams and clubs to be unable to pay and use the facilities. We want to make these facilities more available to the citizens of the FCT to enjoy the field,” he said.
Mr Mouktar was on 20 June, 2019 elected Chairman of the FCT FA after defeating former chairman Alhaji Talle in a keenly contested election.
