On Monday, October 7, 2019, the Super Falcons of Nigeria failed, for the third consecutive time, to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games in Japan.

The team, despite her dominance in the continent’s football, had earlier failed to qualify for the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympics, respectively.

Every sports lover and football followers in the country had expected the team tutored by interim coach, Christopher Danjuma to have a stroll on the back of the Cote d’Ivoire ladies.

Unfortunately, that was never to be as a goalless draw in Abidjan was followed by a 1-1 draw in Agege, Lagos which ensured that the three-time Africa champions were eliminated via away goals rule.

What infuriated many was the fact that despite having an array of oversee-based players who could prosecute the two matches and get home and away victories for the country, the coach and the Female Department in the Nigeria Football Federation conspired to eschew some key players from the two matches.

Prominent among the omissions were the former captains of the team, Rita Chikwelu and Desire Oparanozie.

The ominous sign of the doomsday to come, was heralded by the hasty appointment and announcement of Asisat Oshoala as the substantive captain of the team by Coach Chris Danjuma. A decision many football stakeholders chastised him for and described him as a puppet in the hand of a cabal determined to achieve an aim other than national interest.

Prior to the ignominy of October 7, former coach of the side, Thomas Dennerby had resigned from his position citing bad working environment and undue interference in his work by some elements in the federation.

Dennerby left having won his last two matches, another Olympic qualifiers previously against Algeria away and home with a 3-0 aggregate score.

Bestchoicesports.com.ng reported how a cabal in the female department and the secretariat of the NFF has ganged up against Dennerby by blocking him from inviting key players into the team and giving him access to choose the local coaches he would work with.

Nigeria crashed out of 2020 Olympic qualifiers

The paper have gathered that a woman, in the Female department and three others in the secretariat have been making life a hell of experience for players, coaches and some other staff in the federation.

Within a space of two years, this POWERFUL lady, (here referred to as Lady R&D) in the NFF has sacked these innocent persons – Florence Omagbemi (head coach), Maureen Mmadu (Assitant coach), 5 Super Falcons players, Thomas Dennerby (Head coach) and Mansur Abdullahi (assistant coach).

A seasoned sports journalist, Adewale Ajayi said this concerning some of the aforementioned individuals “Florence Omagbemi was sacked as National team coach because a few persons in the glasshouse felt that as chief coach, she did little in stopping her players from protesting the none payment of the bonuses.

“Dennerby left Nigeria unceremoniously too because some persons felt he failed to talk to his girls during that brief protest at the women’s world cup in France

“To worsen matters five home based players from the team that went to France didn’t get their match bonuses for reasons best known by those in the glass house.”

A coach who saw it all in the hands of this dreaded lady, told Bestchoicesports.com.ng that she was the reason he lost his job as a former coach of one of the female national teams. the coach alleged that each time Lady R&B is in custody of any of the female national teams’ funds, the money would got missing.

“My issue with Lady (R&D) did not start today but over 10 years when I was with the super falcons. May the soul of Ogunjobi rest in peace he knows it.

“There was a time the team had issues but instead of tabling the matter before the chief coach, this lady went and reported to James Peter’s the then assistant Director Technical and Sanusi who was the Director Competition. When late Chief Ogunjobi saw them in James Peters’ office he passed then he saw Mr Steven G. Who was the Vice-chairman of women football. He was always in training ground throughout their tenure

“Ogunjobi, after much inquiries, went back and ask Lady R&D and another lady to leave that office as the matter is not supposed to be there since the head coach was not there and had not been briefed.

“When they came back, we told Lady R&D that want she did was wrong. An issue happened in the field, she was supposed to wait till we came back to hotel and discuss it as coaches. If we could not handle it, then she and the head coach can take it to the office

“Lady R&D picked an offence and asked me why I should say so. That was when the issue started.

“This lady in question holds money when the team travels. Remember, she is not the accountant of the team. Why Lady R&D always hold money if women team is traveling beats my imagination. If there is no accountant in the trip the next person that should hold the money is the team Secretary. But that is never the case.

“Sad enough, any time she holds money, there must be missing money. So Lady R&D has been an evil person. She just want people who can’t talk in the team. People who cannot challenge her authority. Any time you challenged her, like I did, you become a marked man,” he told our correspondent requesting confidentiality.

A super Falcons player who have also shared in the Lady R&D unprofessional and sentimental actions wondered why she changed all of a sudden.

Speaking to our correspondent from her base in Europe, the player alleged that Lady R&B talks to players without regard and nobody has the right to challenge her or even reply her. Not even the captain of the team. And if a player talks about money, she will make sure that the player will not be invited to camp again. The player alleged that she treats the players as if they were slaves

“I don’t understand why she change so much. She was a nice person but since she became…(an important person in the female football department), she changed. She talks to players anyhow, like if we’re slaves! Nobody have the right to talk! And if you talk about money she will make sure that you will not be called to camp! As you know, I’m one of her victims! But one thing I know, I will keep saying the truth because she’s not my God,” she said…
