United States of America, Monday produced an impressive performance to dispatch lacklustre Flying Eagles in second match in Group D of the ongoing 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

An unimpressive Flying Eagles side were well beaten by Team USA in Bielsko-Biala with two first half goals meaning they must earn a result against table –toppers Ukraine on Thursday to be sure of a place in the Round of 16.

Paul Aigbogun and his technical bench appeared to have lost ideas on what to do as the team that thrashed debutants, Qatar 4-0 on Friday were outplayed in the match thus making the USA lads ran away with the three points at stake in 2-0 win

Looking already good for the knockout stages following a commanding 4-0 win over Qatar in Tychy on Friday, the two –time runners –up were taken to the cleaners by a smooth –playing American side that was vastly superior in pace, technical hue, all –round play, awareness, guile and marksmanship.

Having beaten Qatar easily, the Flying Eagles were expected to find their range against USA and get their two feet into the knockout rounds. But that looked a mountain to climb right from kick –off as the nifty Sebastian Soto, who scored both goals, combined well with Alex Mendez and Timothy Weah to rip through the Nigerian defence at will.

USA, after suffering a 2-1 defeat in their first game against Ukraine, got off to a dominating start which paid off when Sebastian Soto broke the deadlock in the 18th minute.

After conceding, the Flying Eagles woke up and threatened the defence of their opponent but to no avail.

USA extended their lead one minute after the break, when Soto found the back of the net to get his brace. With the introduction of fresh legs by coach Paul Aigbogun, the Flying Eagles could not find their rhythm as they were beaten 2-0 by the Americans.

Nigeria must now earn a result against group leaders Ukraine – who pipped Qatar 1-0 earlier in the day –  on Thursday to advance to the Round of 16.
