Players of Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL side, Warri Wolves Friday morning boycotted their training session in protest over unpaid salaries, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report

A source who spoke to our correspondent said the players are being owed up to five months salaries.

He added that the players match bonuses were not regularly paid.

“The players worked out of their training pitch this morning in protest over unpaid salaries. They are being owed for about four to five months.

“The players are owed even before the league started. Even last season, they were owed about two months before the season was aborted,” the source said anonymously.

The source said further that the decision by the players to boycott training became inevitable after they were begged to play their Matchday 8 encounter with Plateau United on Wednesday.

“The players wanted not to play the match against Plateau United but the management pleaded with them. Now after playing the match, nothing concrete was done with regards to their unpaid salaries and this morning the consequence was the boycott.”

The boycott was also confirmed in a Tweet
“Players of Warri_Wolves_FC have refused to train today, as they walked out of the training groud in protest of their upaid salaries.

“We will not return to training until something comprehensive is being done about our salaries,” the tweet quoted the players.

When contacted, the Chairman of the Club, Moses Etu told Bestchoicesports.com.ng that the purvey of the story is ‘mad’ and described it as a ‘distraction’.

“The person that told you that, I am sorry to use the word, the person is mad. You understand, the person is mad.

“People are looking for a way to cause distraction and destroy the team but it will not work,” he concluded.

Warri Wolves are 16th on the league table with 9 points from 8 matches.
