Paris Saint-Germain’s new signing Sergio Ramos reportedly turned down the chance to join Premier League side Arsenal.

Ramos became a free agent at the end of last season after his contract with Real Madrid expired, and wasn’t offered a new deal. The Spaniard joined PSG on Thursday on a two-year deal, ending his 16-year stint with the Los Blancos.

According to reports, Mikel Arteta was keen to bring the experienced defender to the Emirates ahead of the new season but the defender wasn’t interested in the move.

It is reported that the Gunners had offered Ramos a two-year contract worth £15m a year but instead opted to sign for the French capital.

He is now set to earn around £10m per year, which could rise to £13m with bonuses.
