Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi have been ruled out of the remainder of 2022 English Premier League with knee injury, www.bestchoicesports.com.ng can report

The Nigeria midfielder limped off in his side’s 2-1 second-leg defeat by Rennes in the Europa Conference League earlier this month.

He missed Nigeria’s 2022 World Cup play-offs against Ghana on 25 and 29th.

Ndidi has made 19 Premier League appearances for Leicester this season with great performances

The 25-year old have since undergone surgery and will be sidelined for the run-in.

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers confirmed the latest setback on Thursday: “Wilfred Ndidi will be out for the season, it’s a shame for us, but he’ll get ready for next season.”

“It’s unfortunate,” added Rodgers. “He’s been a brilliant player for me in my time here. He picked up a nasty injury that has had to have surgery on and he’ll recover now until June.”

Ndidi, it could be recalled was sidelined for much time during the 2019/2020 season with injury.

It remains to be seen if he could be fit on time for Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON qualifiers in June
