2020 NSF: Istifanus Emphasises Importance of Early Camp for Team FCT

The Acting Director, Federal Capital Territory sports Council, Mr. Lucas Istifanus has emphasised the need for early camping for Team FCT ahead of the 2020 Nations Sports Festival, NSF holding next month.
Mr. Istifanus who stated this during a meeting with the Team FCT coaches and officials in Abuja Wednesday, pointed out the early camping of the FCT athletes in Abuja will enhance the team’s performance in the festival.
The Acting Director explained that the first phases of the camping will take place this month and is strictly for athletes for batch A who are due to depart to Benin city for the competition which kicks off on the 3rd of December, 2020.
the Acting Director said the programme of the camping for Team FCT will be in two phases to meet the demand of the 20th edition of the Festival which for the first time in its history will have the athletes competing in phases.
Mr Lucas Istifanus appealed to the coaches to commence final preparation in time to enhance a good outing warning that the time left for the festival was too short for further delay
Also speaking at the occasion, the Head of Technical, FCT Sports department Oke Chukwu who spoked on behalf of the coaches said the various sporting associations have since commenced preparation ahead of the games next month.
Team FCT emerged 7th best overall in the last edition of the National Sports Festival which took placed in Abuja in 2018
The National sports council recommended that the Games Village would open on Thursday, December 3rd and close December 18th as the opening ceremony is scheduled for December 5th, while the closing ceremony takes place on Thursday, December 17th.
The competition days phase 1, comes up December 6 to December 10, break and arrivals for 2nd phase comes up Friday, December 11, and competition days for the second phase from December 12 to December 16, 2020.
The National Sports Festival, which was earlier scheduled to hold in March in Benin City, Edo State was postponed due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, which also affected social, economic activities worldwide.
