In view of the ravaging coronavirus also referred to as COVID-19 in the world and Nigeria at the moment, the 8th edition of the Dreamland-Embassy of Hungary Cup Tournament scheduled to hold from May 22nd – 30th, 2020 at MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja has been postponed indefinitely, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

The decision to postpone the most glamorous youth tournament in the country was reached after a video conference meeting between the project Director, Dreamland Football Academy, The Embassy of Hungary in Abuja, Trust Gelei Es Tarsa among other European partners on the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking with our correspondent, the Tournament Director, Mr. Ndudi Emmanuel Edede while promising that the tournament will return with lots of innovation and improvement, expressed the management resolve to make the edition most memorable.

Mr Edede added that a new date will be communicated to the participating teams and stakeholders once the COVID-19 situation improves.

“We want to inform all registered teams for the 8th Dreamland-Embassy of Hungary Cup that the tournament has been postponed indefinitely.

“The postponement is sequel to the ravaging coronavirus pandemic in the world and our country as well.

“The award winning youth football tournament will return with a new date as soon as the COVID-19 pandemic challenge improves.

“We shall continue to work from home to ensure effective and efficient organization of the project.

“All registered teams and the general public are hereby notified accordingly and be rest assured that the tournament will continue to evolve and improve in each edition,“ he said.

Galadima Football Academy of Abuja are the defending champions of the 7th Dreamland Embassy of Hungary Cup Abuja, 2019.

They emerged victorious November 17, 2019, after defeating hard-fighting Hooke Sports Football Academy, also of Abuja, 5-3 in penalty shootouts that followed the goalless draw at full time.
