With the governor of Nasarawa State Engr. Sule yet to reconstitute the executive council after it was dissolved on August 30, 2021, it does appear that the great strides recorded by the former commissioner for youth and sports in the state, Honourable Bala Uthman, has been left to rot.

This is because, the appearance of the Nasarawa State contingents to the 6th edition of the National Youth Games, NYG, ongoing in University of Ilorin, Kwara State depicts of abandnoned children.

The young athletes were left to participate in the opening ceremony parade in dirty numbered “Mexico jersey” to the disappointment of other states, journalists and spectators alike.

While other states’ contingents appeared smartly dressed during the match past, Nasarawa State athletes appeared on jerseys with many of them looking around in confusion as the tries to understand why they looked awkwardly different.

It was gathered that some of the athletes who played a hockey match on the Friday morning were asked to join the parade wearing their dirty jerseys.

It is not yet clear why the state’s sports council failed to provide the necessary sports wear for the young athletes as authorities we spoke to refused to provide explanations

The Director, Technical Unit, Nasarawa State Sports Council, Mr Sani Bello declined to comment on the development when our correspondent contacted him.

Mr Bello told our correspondent that he was not in the best frame of mind to talk and requested that he called him back

“Please I am not in good mood to talk now. I am doing something, when I finish, you call me back,” Mr Bello said.

When our correspondent called him after over two hours, he did not pick nor did he return the missed calls before press time.

When contacted, the Former commissioner of Sports in the state, Hon. Bala Uthman said he does not have information concerning the contingents as he has been out of office since August.,
