Super Falcons Coach, Randy Waldrum has revealed the tactical approach the team would adopt ahead of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON second leg final qualifier against the Lady Elephants of Ivory Coast today, www.bestchoicesports.com.ng can report
Speaking ahead of the make-or-mar clash in Abidjan, the American who expressed confidence that the Falcons will triumph said though the Nigerian ladies have two-goal advantage going into the encounter, he would not be defensive in the match.
Coach Waldrum whose ladies won the first leg 2-0 in Abuja over the weekend said they would go offensive and play with aggressive attacking mentality against the Lady Elephants
“I am confident that we have got to win. It is a two leg. We scored two goals so we have got to come out with an attitude that we are going to score goals here too.
“We can’t sit back and try to protect the two-goal lead. We will come out very aggressive in a very attacking mentality,” he said.
Asked if the team are preparing ahead if the tournament which takes place in July in Morocco, Waldrum said the attention of the team and their technical crew is on the match on Wednesday
“We are preparing ahead of the AFCON but right now our mind is on the Ivory Coast. We have to get the result. Nothing else matters. Right now, our focus is on this game.”
He described the 20, 000 capacity Robert Champroux Stadium, venue of the match, as the best pitch the team have seen during the qualifying race.
“The pitch is a great pitch. Probably the best pitch we have been on in this qualifier. I am very pleased with the pitch.”
