Super Eagles and Everton playmaker, Alex Iwobi will be out of football scene for two weeks after picking up an ankle injury against Manchester United in the FA Cup 3rd Round clash on Friday.

The 26-year-old fell awkwardly after a challenge from defender Tyrell Malacia early in the second half of the fixture at Old Trafford and he was taken off on a stretcher.

The former Arsenal star had a scan on Saturday with Everton boss, Frank Lampard saying they are hoping it is not serious.

“”We hope it’s not too serious. It looks like an ankle ligament injury. He will have a scan tomorrow (Saturday) to confirm.” Frank Lampard said

However, a source close to Everton has said they Iwobi who has been phenomenal for the club this season will be out for two weeks.

“Results of his scan show things are not as bad as previously thought,” said a source very close to the player.

Meanwhile, Iwobi has expressed appreciation to the Everton fans for their “love” declaring that he would be “back soon”

“Appreciate The Love, Back Soon.” He tweeted on Saturday

Iwobi was stretchered off the pitch in the second half in tears following the tackle raising concerns over the duration of his recuperation.
