​ Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, ended her intense public rivalry with Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday by securing a fourth-round knockout victory in their celebrity boxing clash at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos.

Phyna defeated actress Nkechi Blessing in a celebrity boxing bout, knocking her out in the fourth round to claim the championship belt, N50 million prize and a brand a brand-new 2026 electric vehicle.

The highly anticipated bout, held in Lagos in the early hours of Friday, October 2, was the climax of a heated build up between the two entertainers, whose rivalry had generated considerable attention on social media.

​The highly anticipated bout, headlined as part of the Balmoral Group’s “Chaos in the Ring” event on October 1, brought an end to weeks of heated online back-and-forth, studio scuffles, and physical standoffs.

​The friction between the two entertainers erupted in mid-September 2026 when Nkechi Blessing posted a video addressing Phyna’s frequent social media altercations. Blessing cautioned the reality star to “calm down” and show respect to her seniors. 

​Phyna quickly retaliated, accusing Blessing of chasing clout and dismissing her advice. The dispute spilled into the real world days later when both women crossed paths at a media house during a recording session with TV host Morayo Brown. Video footage went viral showing the pair in a physical altercation, with Brown attempting to separate them before being pushed aside. 

​Rather than letting the studio brawl settle the matter, event organizers capitalized on the viral moment, locking both women into a sanctioned boxing match scheduled for Nigeria’s Independence Day.

​At the pre-fight press conference in Lagos, tensions boiled over once again. Blessing promised to “break Phyna’s head” and declared that the reality star would not last past the second round. Phyna remained undeterred, insisting that her younger age and stamina would carry her through. 

Phyna, who was the smaller and slimmer of the two fighters, relied on her speed and movement from the opening bell, throwing quick punches and moving around the ring to frustrate Nkechi Blessing.

Blessing responded aggressively in the second round, pressing forward and engaging Phyna in a series of heavy exchanges as both fighters traded punches.

The third round was more cautious, with neither fighters able to establish a decisive advantage. Both celebrities continued to exchange punches as the contest remained closely fought.

The turning point came in the fourth round when the two fighters engaged in another intense exchange.

Phyna eventually landed the decisive punch, sending Blessing crashing to the canvas. The actress was unable to beat the referee’s count, bringing the contest to an end and giving Phyna a knockout victory.

The win earned Phyna the championship belt, while her victory was further rewarded with a brand new car presented by one of the event’s promoters.

Speaking after the fight, Phyna said the knockout was part of her plan from the beginning.

She explained that she intended to wear Blessing down before looking for an opportunity to finish the fight, saying her plan was to “gas out” her opponent before going for the knockout.

Following her victory, Phyna wasted little time in setting her sights on another opponent as she called out actress Etinosa for a potential celebrity boxing bout.

Etinosa subsequently entered the ring and accepted the challenge, raising the possibility of another contest between the two entertainers, who were described as “two Edo girls.”
