Nigeria’s Flying Flamingos are on the cusp of football immortality, and the message from the camp is crystal clear: maintain the character, stick to the philosophy, and bring the trophy home.

Following their historic run to the final of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, Nigeria head coach Akeem Busari and star forward Queen Joseph have expressed immense pride and tactical focus ahead of the ultimate showdown.

Reflecting on the tactical demands of the upcoming final, coach Busari emphasized that consistency and mental fortitude will be Nigeria’s greatest weapons. He noted that their opponents share a strikingly similar footballing identity to North Korea, a team the Flamingos have already analyzed deeply.

“It’s just about showing the same character and playing the same way we played with North Korea, because they play with the same philosophy,” Busari stated. “They want to build the ball, they look at the high line of passes, they want their full-backs to support, so we really want to look at all that.”

While tactical discipline is at the forefront of his plans, Busari didn’t hide his immense joy regarding the team’s journey, though he insisted the job is not yet finished.

“I’m excited and I’m happy, but we just really want to pick up the trophy. That would be the icing on the cake,” the coach added.

For forward Queen Joseph, reaching this stage is more than just a personal milestone—it is a monumental achievement for African football. The energetic attacker highlighted the profound sense of pride vibrating through the squad after securing a spot in the tournament’s grand finale.

“I feel very happy. Playing in the final is a big privilege, representing my country in the final is a big privilege for me,” Joseph expressed emotionally. “I’m super proud of myself and my team because we made history.”

Joseph also recognized the immense responsibility resting on their shoulders, reminding fans that the Flamingos are playing for an entire continent.

“We are not here just representing Nigeria; we are here representing Africa as a whole,” she said.

Nigeria, who have captivated fans globally with their flair, defensive resilience, and clinical attacking displays, are now just 90 minutes away from lifting the coveted trophy. With the backing of a nation and a continent behind them, Busari’s squad looks perfectly primed to put the final, golden icing on an already historic cake.
