Three coaches have indicated their readiness to manage the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon after Clarence Seedorf was fired.

The list of interested candidate is headed by former gaffer of the Atlas Lions of Morocco, Herve Renard.

He has previously been the manager of the Zambian national team, with whom he won the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations; he also won the competition in 2015 Africa Cup of Nations with the Ivory Coast, becoming the first coach to win two Africa Cup of Nations with different countries.

Another Frenchman linked with the Cameroon team is the man shepherd the Squirrels of Benin Republic to the last eight in Egypt Michel Dussuyer.

He was an assistant coach at Cannes between 1996 and 2002.

He was appointed as manager of the Guinea national team in September 2002. He led them to the 2004 African Cup of Nations, their first appearance in the competition since 1998. The country reached the quarter-finals of the competition – their best result in 30 years – but he resigned in March 2004, citing family reasons.

In 2006, he was an assistant coach to Henri Michel for the Ivory Coast national team, for the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations. He returned to Cannes as manager, from 2006 to 2007.

He was appointed as manager of the Benin national team in June 2008. He was sacked in February 2010, along with the rest of the coaching staff. He claimed he was not informed of his sacking by the Benin Football Federation .

In May 2010 he returned as manager of Guinea. After leaving in late 2013, he was re-appointed in February 2014. After taking Guinea to the quarter-finals of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, he became manager of the Ivory Coast national team in July 2015.

Dussuyer resigned from his role as Ivory Coast manager after the team failed to reach the quarter-finals of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

In December 2017 he was linked with the vacant Benin national team manager’s job. He was appointed to the role in August 2018. He was in charge of Benin at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Home boy Patrick Mboma is also eyeing the Indomitable Lions coaching job.

During his career he played for Châteauroux, Paris Saint-Germain, Metz, Gamba Osaka, Cagliari , Parma, Sunderland (where he scored once against Tottenham Hotspur), Al-Ittihad , Tokyo Verdy and Vissel Kobe before retiring on 16 May 2005.

After first being capped for Cameroon in 1995, Mboma scored 33 goals in 57 matches. He played in the 1998 and 2002 World Cups , and also led Cameroon to the gold medal at the 2000 Olympics and victories at the 2000 and 2002 African Nations Cups. He was named African Footballer of the Year for his efforts in 2000. He scored a memorable overhead kick against France in 1998. His trademark goal-scoring celebration was a two-gun shooting spree with both his hands. He was renowned for scoring long distance goals with his powerful left foot.

FECAFOOT, the body managing the beautiful game in Cameroon under the leadership of President Seidou Mbombo Njoya are yet to open the doors for coaches to apply for the job.
