REVEALED: Delta Force Players Owed Four Months’ Salary

Loading

The players of Delta Force Football Club of Asaba, who are currently playing in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), are being owed four months’ salary by the Delta State government.

It could be recalled that Delta Force got a slot to play in the NPFL last season after the bought over the slot of former side, Kada City.

One would have thought that the State was prepared to fund the club properly owing to the jubilation that greeted the promotion, but the reverse has proved to be the case.

“It calls for logic reasoning. A State that could not fund one club properly in the last season cannot be expected to be able to manage two teams in the elite league, knowing full well that Warri Wolves have just gained promotion to the elite league”, Scorenigeria quoted a player who pleaded anonymity.

It could also be recalled that reports days ago, reaffirmed that Delta state’s priority at the moment is on sports and youth development but this revelation appears to contradict that statement.

The State government’s indebtedness to Delta Force to the tune of four months salary is the State’s greatest undoing at the moment as the players have threatened to embark on a strike action.
