AFCON U-23: Minister Charges Olympic Team To Be True Nigeria Ambassadors

The Minister of youth and sports, Sunday Dare has charged the Olympic Eagles (U-23) to be true ambassadors of the country as the hoist Nigeria’s flag at the 3rd edition of U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON holding in Egypt, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report
The minister gave the charge Friday when he paid a visit to the team’s hotel camp in Abuja.
Mr Dare while addressing the players stated ‘’I think the closest I have seen you play is on television. I did watch you on Saturday and you played out your heart, that is the way it is with sports.’’
“Life is like sports; sometimes you win, sometimes you lose but when you lose there is still a winner when you bring the lesson learnt to bear’’.
The minister who said he would make out time if possible to come and train with the team someday and reminded them that as they prepare for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics that millions of sports loving Nigerians are supporting them, adding that the players should prove themselves as true ambassadors and talented footballers who will bring glory to the country.
He also urged the players to represent Nigeria well in their matches at the 2019 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt.
The 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations will be the third edition of the tournament.
Eight countries paired in two groups A and B will participate in the tournament which will commence on November 8 and end on November 22, 2019.
The best three teams will represent Africa at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
Nigeria is the defending champions.
